Quarterjack is the most recent pseudonym used by Gabriel Leonard. This alias was introduced on Valentine’s Day 2016 replaced his previous moniker 99. Known for nightclub dj sets, he has also been producing, mixing, mastering, and filling in songwriting sessions for the last decade.
Specific responsibilities include A&R representative, audio engineer, and album art designer for his two labels discoSWAG, XOX Cult, and others labels in the dance, hiphop, and indie network. Unlike most in his niche, he steps out the realm of the laptop and synthesizers. Recording sessions of guitars, drums, to more obscure native woodwind and percussions instrumentation are found throughout his discography. Idolizing artists and bands like Marilyn Manson, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Rob Zombie, Nirvana, and Nine Inch Nails lead him to focus on emotionally progressive songwriting with heavy imagery that can be heard even on his instrumental tracks. Remixes, singles, and EPs are important to the EDM/electronic/indie dance music markets, but considering his influences the idea of full-length LPs and concept albums have been his subsequent passion.
Beyond the studio, he has been the resident DJ for such venues as Gilt (formerly Roxy), ONO (formerly 1 South), Backbooth, and several other Florida venues. Other notable performances would include playing multiple Winter Music Conference events each year and playing high population shows such as Sunset Music Festival. Holding down these spots has allowed him to build a solid network with other DJ/producers, as well as the understanding of talent buying/selling and event based marketing.
